The 45 years old comedienne and Oscar winning actress has lost so much weight over the last few years, going from almost 300kg to 215kg. Monique says she didn't have surgery just good ol' exercise. Below is what she said on a radio programme recently.

"I tweet every morning, my workouts, because I want women to see - especially us big women - that you don’t have to let them cut you and suck it out, you don't have to let them staple you up, you don't have to let them give you a pill, you don't have to let them put a band around your organs. If you put the work in, baby, I promise you, it comes off."

"I am the best Mo'Nique I've ever been in my life right now. And I still have a ways to go. But I feel amazing.

About 2,000 security operatives and military hardware, including fighter jets have been deployed to Maiduguri ahead of yesterday’s declaration of State of Emergency.

In neighboring Yobe State, it is not clear how many soldiers were deployed but residents said shortly after the declaration of state of emergency, stop and search operations have been intensified in the state capital while movement have been restricted in other places.

Residents said the deployment of the federal troops, including the army, navy, air force and operatives of the State Security Service (SSS) began at the weekend.

“We started sensing danger on Saturday when we saw military trucks conveying soldiers to the Joint Task Force (JTF) headquarters along Pompomari area,” Usman Jika, a resident of Maiduguri said.

“By Sunday morning, so many roadblocks have sprung up in the state capital and there was noticeable cordon and search of houses by new faces (soldiers),” he said.

A resident of Kumshe, one of the red spots in Maiduguri said his neighbour was beaten to pulp on Sunday when soldiers besieged the areas and forced all the people out of their houses.

“All the soldiers that came to the neighborhood appeared new in the town, some of them said it is now time for ‘fire for fire” he said.

Another resident said he saw military aircrafts landing at the Maiduguri International Airport and the air strip at the Air Force base in the state capital.

“A lot of fighting equipment have been deployed to Maiduguri,” Hajja Maimuna, a resident of Gomari, whose house is close to the Air Force base said.

“We are really terrified because the military operatives coming to Maiduguri in the last two days far outnumbered those that came during the previous emergency rule,” she said.

“Even though the state governor has not been removed, which is good, the truth is that Maiduguri is now a garrison town, full of angry soldiers who are ready to kill at the slightest provocation. The deployment will definitely hamper social and economic life of the people,” she said.

President Jonathan has declared an indefinite state of emergency in three Northern states, Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, citing insecurity. He made the announcement in a nationwide live broadcast yesterday evening 14-05-2013 with this declaration, the president has given the military the authority to take over the security of the states, though all political office holders in the states would still continue in office.

President Jonathan said the efforts at dialogue with militants will continue but will take extra ordinary measures to maintain peace. He immediately ordered troops to be deployed to the states to arrest and detain suspected terrorists, take over of suspicious buildings, and detain persons suspected to be in possession of arms. On terrorism, he said:

"We will hunt them down, fish them out and bring them to justice. No matter what it takes, we will win this war against terror"

Honestly i guess this action is long overdue. Just wondering why Nassarawa wasn't also included.

Four Nigerian teenage girls - Duro-Aina Adebola (14), Akindele Abiola (14), Faleke Oluwatoyin (14) and Bello Eniola (15) have created something truly incredible, even if it's a little dangerous..:-).

The girls invented a urine powered generator which was showcased at this year's Maker Faire Africa held in Lagos a few days back. According to Maker Faire Africa, an annual event which showcases inventions, the system works like this:
  • Urine is put into an electrolytic cell, which separates out the hydrogen.
  • The hydrogen goes into a water filter for purification, which then gets pushed into the gas cylinder.
  • The gas cylinder pushes hydrogen into a cylinder of liquid borax, which is used to remove the moisture from the hydrogen gas.
  • This purified hydrogen gas is pushed into the generator.
1 Litre of urine gives you 6 hours of electricity.

Why is it a little dangerous? Maker Faire Africa ended their report by saying: Along the whole way there are one-way valves for security, but let’s be honest that this is an explosive device... i agree, but its also an invention, a good one. All they need now is people who will collaborate with them to improve on it.

BE VERY SCARED....YES, says the nation's bank chief.
Whilst allegations and counter-allegations are traded over the House of Reps probe into the capital market crisis, another party, in the person of former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Charles Soludo, has come out to deliver something of a prophecy of doom. Appearing before the House of Reps committee investigating the near-collapse of the capital market, he warned that the market would always suffer crashes, unless changes were made.

Most containers come in 20- and 40-foot models and generally cost between $1,650 and $3,000 each, depending on size and wear and tear. One-way containers that have only made one passage are usually in the best shape and demand a premium. For residential projects, DeMaria prefers High Cube models, which have a taller 9’6” ceiling.
